Look Homeward, Angel is a book found on one of the side tables in the Mansion's main hall. It does not serve any practical purpose and probably acts as more of a narrative element. The title originates from British poet John Milton's pastoral elegy Lycidas:

Additionally, the book could be considered a copy of the eponymous novel by American writer Thomas Wolfe, a highly autobiographical account of protagonist Eugene Gant's adolescence in the fictional town and state of Altamont, Catawba, a reflection of the author's hometown Asheville, North Carolina.
