The Lantern 
is a kerosene-fuelled lamp which Adam picks up in the Mansion's Vestibule, along with a Box of Matches, as seen in the Intro Sequence of the game, 
Shadows. Once he makes the acquaintance of Rebecca Trevisard, she will take charge of the lamp, shedding light on the obscure and puzzling path ahead of us.
