Tales From the Tower Wiki

The Falshire Knights were an order of knights, serving under Baron Urien[1] and led by Aelf, who defended the Soulstone against the forces of evil. According to Hawk, Aelf is the very last in the most noble line of avatars who swore their soul to the light on the day of Creation and defend the Soulstone from all evil. The order eventually fell to an army of Darkness, led by a young mortal called Florentine, and the Demon of Lies, Belial.

Discussing the topic with Adam, Rebecca comments how she "once read of a battle fought between a company of rogue Templars and a group of knights which I believe were of the Falshire Order. But I'm not sure where the battle was fought." Their last battle against the French forces of Florentine was apparently fought on the grounds of a location called Falshire Field, if we take Adam's reflection on Aelf and the Soulstone into consideration:

Adam: [Aelf] fell long ago, defending the Soulstone with his Falshire Knights. Fell to Florentine and his demonic hordes at Falshire field."

Members[]

Apart from Aelf, only three other members are explicitly documented by the game, as seen in the cutscene which is triggered upon investigating the OldKnightHelm Old Knight's Helm in the Mansion's Gallery, Eye of the Beast Fall of Angels: Pelador, Baron Urien and the unnamed Knight who informs Aelf about their defeat.

Script[]

Eye of the Beast Fall of Angels

Pelador: My Lord, they have taken the Site.
Aelf: Save your strength. What of the Stone?
Pelador: It is theirs, Sire. Baron Urien went down under the French horses. I saw his Banner burning from the hill.
Aelf: Then it is time. How stand the Associates?
Unnamed Falshire Knight: They are ready my lord.
Pelador: My Lord, Oh would that it was I who took the honour of leading the assault.
Aelf: Only I can lead the Associates Pelador. They are not of this place. Remember, their command is mine and mine alone, such is the Law. But you my friend, you shall ride by my side if you so desire.
Pelador (passes away with a faint smile upon his face)
Aelf: Then give the word; the Stone shall not be theirs. By my Blood. The army rides.

Reflecting on Aelf

Adam: So Aelf is a product of the Soulstone. That's what Hawk said. If the Soulstone is the lock, then Aelf's sword is the key, part of the Shrive. That means that Aelf's sword was Eternity. It would seem events have been brought about too soon, certain prophecies. That's why Aelf is here; to help put Mankind's future back on course, to restore the equilibrium. Aelf's spirit that is. He fell long ago, defending the Soulstone with his Falshire Knights. Fell to Florentine and his demonic hordes at Falshire field. Now only his spirit remains. Although powerful, he cannot take up his sword again. Apparently, it's down to me. Great. That's just great...

Discussing Aelf with Rebecca

Adam: What do you know of the Falshire knights?
Rebecca: I once read of a battle fought between a company of rogue Templars and a group of knights which I believe were of the Falshire Order. But I'm not sure where the battle was fought.
Adam: I wonder if the Falshire Knights have anything to do with that Helm we picked up near the Armoury?

  1. During the cutscene Fall of Angels, Pelador mentions a certain 'Baron Urien,' who may be a reference to the late 6th century king of Rheged (former name of a region covering northern England and southern Scotland).
